About The Position

Seagate is a global leader in data storage solutions, creating innovative products for Enterprise and Cloud Computing, as well as Consumer Electronics applications. This group designs, develops, tests, integrates, and supports firmware solutions and products, working closely with many teams to develop firmware solutions that enable features and functions for new products. The team has deep technical expertise in firmware design and a passion for developing innovative solutions, and is involved in advancing emerging technologies such as HAMR (Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording) and defining the hardware and firmware architecture for the next generation of products. This position will help accelerate the organization’s AI journey by applying data science expertise to gather, structure, analyze, and interpret engineering data that improves predictability, decision-making, and product outcomes. The role involves partnering with firmware, product, quality, and program teams to identify the right data sources, define meaningful metrics, and convert complex data into actionable insights that enable more predictable execution and delivery. The successful candidate will develop analytical models, dashboards, and feedback loops that help teams understand trends, risks, dependencies, and leading indicators across the development lifecycle. A strong foundation in data science, statistics, machine learning, data engineering, and analytical problem-solving is required, with the ability to translate engineering and business questions into measurable insights and practical recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and 8+ years of experience, or Master’s degree in the same fields and 6+ years of experience, or PhD and 3+ years of experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Strong data science background, including statistical analysis, machine learning, data visualization, and experience deriving insights from large and complex data sets.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, data pipelines, analytics platforms, and visualization tools used to collect, cleanse, model, and communicate engineering data.
  • Programming experience in C/C++.
