About The Position

This position involves providing direct patient care under supervision in the Sylvester Cancer Center outpatient clinic, focusing on the medical treatment of brain tumors, neuroradiology, and neuro-pathology, with involvement in clinical and basic research pathways. The incumbent will gain independence in leading office visits and performing essential neurological oncology procedures. The role also includes participation in research projects, developing a clinical research project with mentorship, and preparing findings for national presentations and publications. Additionally, the fellow will learn neuro-oncology billing, participate in quality improvement projects, understand intensive care unit administrative processes, attend weekly didactic teaching sessions, and deliver educational presentations to other hospital and academic services.

Requirements

  • MD degree from a recognized accredited University (or foreign equivalent).
  • Florida Medical License or equivalent is required.
  • Good communications skills (face to face, over the phone and in writing).
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other employees.
  • Good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct patient care under supervisor in the Sylvester Cancer Center outpatient clinic.
  • Participating in the medical treatment of brain tumors, neuroradiology, and neuro-pathology.
  • Engaging in clinical research and basic research pathways.
  • Leading office visits independently as skills develop.
  • Performing all medical and diagnostic procedures considered essential for the practice of neurological oncology.
  • Participating in research projects and meetings.
  • Developing a topic to work on during the fellowship year.
  • Developing a clinical research project and preparing findings for presentation at a national meeting and for publication.
  • Learning and properly performing neuro oncology billing.
  • Participating in quality improvement projects.
  • Learning about the administrative processes of an intensive care unit.
  • Attending didactic teaching sessions weekly.
  • Giving educational presentations to other hospital and academic services as appropriate.
