About The Position

The Staff Industrial Designer plays a critical role in shaping the future of physical retail through human-centered, scalable, and production-ready design. This role blends hands-on execution with forward-looking concept development—translating member insights, business strategy, and operational needs into tangible retail systems. Focused on fixtures, displays, and in-store elements, you will design solutions that elevate the member experience while enabling efficiency, flexibility, and scale. You will operate at the intersection of design, engineering, and merchandising—bringing strong craft, systems thinking, and a deep understanding of real-world constraints.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of experience in industrial design (retail, consumer products, or environments)
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating both concept development and production-ready work
  • Expertise in CAD and visualization tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, KeyShot)
  • Deep knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and cost considerations
  • Experience designing for scale and real-world operational constraints
  • Ability to move fluidly between strategy, concept, and execution
  • Strong communication and stakeholder influence skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, business, or related area and 8 years’ progressive experience in experience strategy, UX, or service design with demonstrated enterprise impact.
  • 10 years’ experience leading large-scale, cross-functional experience initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of retail fixtures, displays, and physical systems from concept through production—translating insights and requirements into durable, manufacturable, and high-quality solutions.
  • Explore and prototype next-generation retail experiences, creating vision concepts, pilots, and testable solutions that inform future club formats and evolving member needs.
  • Ground design decisions in member and associate insights, ensuring solutions are intuitive, ergonomic, and accessible across all physical touchpoints.
  • Design modular, flexible systems that scale across new builds and remodels—balancing consistency with adaptability across diverse club environments.
  • Partner with Merchandising, Operations, Engineering, and Sourcing to align design intent with business goals and manufacturing realities. Communicate ideas clearly and influence stakeholders across levels.
  • Elevate design through strong form, materiality, and detailing while maintaining high standards for documentation, storytelling, and execution.
