About The Position

At Bloom Energy, we are seeking a Staff Equipment Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development and deployment of cutting-edge energy solutions. This role is crucial for supporting equipment across various manufacturing lines, with a focus on diagnosing and fixing manufacturing equipment, particularly automated systems. The engineer will be involved in PLC and HMI programming, motion and servo control systems, and modifying control logic to enhance safety, performance, and throughput. Responsibilities also include commissioning new automated equipment, installing and supporting vision systems, and conducting engineering tasks in mechanical, electrical, and structural systems. The role involves overseeing equipment installation, start-up, and implementation projects, developing equipment specifications, managing project timelines and financial planning, and preparing status reports. Collaboration with vendors, facility engineers, manufacturing engineers, and production teams is essential. The engineer will also identify opportunities to improve safety, reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and raise quality, and will be responsible for approving system as-built drawings. This is a fully on-site role based in Newark, DE.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years’ Manufacturing or Equipment Engineer experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting automated equipment and systems.
  • Functional knowledge of PLC’s, low voltage controls, three phase power distribution, industrial control panels, electronic sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics.
  • Equipment requirement development and specification writing.
  • Knowledge of ergonomic and machine safety standards.
  • Proficiency with Autocad/Solidworks/MS Office suite.
  • Strong Communication skills (written and public speaking).

Responsibilities

  • Support equipment across various manufacturing lines, with differing levels of complexity.
  • Diagnose and fix manufacturing equipment.
  • Provide support for automated equipment through PLC and HMI programming, encompassing motion and servo control systems.
  • Modify existing control logic to improve safety, performance or throughput.
  • Participate in commissioning of new automated equipment and ensure all devices function as designed.
  • Installation, commissioning and support of vision systems for tracking and quality inspections.
  • Conduct engineering tasks in mechanical, electrical, and structural systems for testing, material handling, welding, and machining equipment.
  • Oversee equipment installation as well as start-up and implementation projects.
  • Develop equipment specifications and documents for the manufacturing assembly, testing and material handling processes.
  • Oversee project timelines, financial planning, and prepare comprehensive status reports for leadership.
  • Work with vendors, facility engineers, manufacturing engineers, and production teams to manage project implementation.
  • Find ways to boost safety, cut costs, enhance efficiency, and raise quality.
  • Prepare or approve system as-built drawings.
