About The Position

Haley & Aldrich is seeking a Staff Environmental Scientist 2 to join their growing team in Honolulu, Oahu, HI. This full-time position offers a technical support role within diverse project teams, focusing on municipal and aviation environmental stormwater compliance programs. The role involves supporting technical fieldwork, regulatory compliance, client coordination, and public outreach. Experience or interest in stormwater, spill control planning and reporting, or community programs is encouraged.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 0-2+ years of related experience.
  • Proficient technical writing, verbal communication, reasoning, and time management skills.
  • Able to work independently or with minimal direction in performing tasks and assignments under the direction of senior staff.
  • Desire to learn and grow in your profession, demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, resourcefulness, flexibility, and ownership.
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position: lift 50 lbs., work outside in a range of weather conditions, and have the stamina for moderate physical activity for the majority of field working hours.
  • Able to travel to work locations that may require overnight stays.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Stormwater program compliance experience.
  • Experience in public or community outreach programs.
  • Experience with SPCC (Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure) program implementation and/or training.

Responsibilities

  • Split time and responsibilities between field assignments and office assignments.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed documentation of activities both in the field and during data evaluation.
  • Apply academic and industry knowledge, as well as experience gained from prior work experience to execute project work.
  • Draft technical sections of project communications and reports.
  • Under the direction of senior staff, participate in communications with clients and internal teams within your discipline.
  • Perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols, including the company’s foundational safety behaviors.
