About The Position

TRC is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented staff-level Environmental Geologist, Scientist, or Civil Engineer to join our Engineering, Construction, and Remediation practice in Concord or Rancho Cordova, CA. The position focuses on a candidate seeking to develop technical skills to support various environmental consulting services, including environmental assessment/inspection, construction monitoring, data analysis, and reporting. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of task/project managers, integrate with our diverse regional team, and demonstrate motivation to support various field and technical efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting or related areas.
  • Experience with field data collection methods, including electronic collection of field observations, soil/rock logging, and soil/water/air sampling.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Responsibility and accountability to perform assigned tasks to completion.
  • Ability to learn through on-the-job experience and retain knowledge for progressive development.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel for fieldwork and project assignments (up to approximately 50% local travel).
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, physical and motor vehicle records check.
  • Must have ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification, including current annual refresher

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data analysis and reporting
  • Familiarity with environmental sampling procedures
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) certification
  • Knowledge of California environmental regulations and permitting processes
  • Experience with AutoCAD or GIS

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting environmental site assessments and investigations.
  • Support remediation planning and implementation activities.
  • Prepare work plans, technical reports, proposals, and health & safety plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver project objectives.
  • Conduct fieldwork, including soil/rock logging, sampling (soil, groundwater, soil vapor, air), monitoring, and inspections, in accordance with written plans and procedures.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to procure resources for and oversee fieldwork.
  • Perform storm water inspections and sampling for construction, industrial, and municipal sites.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and data management.
