About The Position

Haley & Aldrich is seeking a Staff Environmental Engineer or Environmental Scientist 2 to join their growing team. This role will provide technical support to highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. The position offers an excellent opportunity to get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time position located in their Makawao, Maui, HI or Honolulu, Oahu, HI offices. The role involves supporting municipal and aviation environmental stormwater compliance programs, including technical fieldwork, regulatory compliance, client coordination, and public outreach under the guidance of senior staff. Responsibilities include construction and tenant inspections, design reviews, reporting, and assisting with engagement activities to promote public understanding of stormwater programs. This position is ideal for candidates looking to grow their careers by developing expertise across compliance, regulatory, and outreach functions in a collaborative environment. Experience or interest in stormwater, spill control planning and reporting, or community programs is encouraged.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 0-2+ years of related experience.
  • Proficient technical writing, verbal communication, reasoning, and time management skills.
  • Able to work independently or with minimal direction in performing tasks and assignments under the direction of senior staff.
  • Desire to learn and grow in your profession, demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, resourcefulness, flexibility, and ownership.
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position: lift 50 lbs., work outside in a range of weather conditions, and have the stamina for moderate physical activity for the majority of field working hours.
  • Able to travel to work locations that may require overnight stays.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Stormwater program compliance experience.
  • Experience in public or community outreach programs.
  • Experience with SPCC (Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure) program implementation and/or training.

Responsibilities

  • Split time and responsibilities between field assignments and office assignments.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed documentation of activities both in the field and during data evaluation.
  • Apply academic and industry knowledge, as well as experience gained from prior work experience to execute project work.
  • Draft technical sections of project communications and reports.
  • Under the direction of senior staff, participate in communications with clients and internal teams within your discipline.
  • Perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols, including the company’s foundational safety behaviors.
