About The Position

Join a team where systems thinking and controls expertise power high‑impact engineering. As a Staff Engineer under broad supervision, you will be responsible for planning and conducting appliance related engineering work requiring knowledge / experience with complex systems including elements of electrical, controls/software and user interfaces. This role also manages key supplier relationships to deliver hardware and software solutions. Assignments are broad in nature but potentially have a high impact on the organization. Data based problem solving with a process improvement focus is key. The ideal candidate will lead by example. This onsite position is based in New Albany, IN, reporting directly to the Director Engineering. Major Accountability: Resolves highly complex technical issues and may conduct advanced research on relevant projects and programs. Develops modular systems architecture for new platforms and solutions. Manages collaboration with hardware and software providers utilizing the Agile Process through JIRA software. Works cross functionally to implement new products and new releases of software to existing products. Key Tasks and Responsibilities: Prepares, plans and conducts complex engineering work using non-standard and creative techniques and solutions. Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods. Leads the investigation and development of new technology or subsystems. Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering changes via evaluation test data and or calculation. Collaborate cross functionally to optimize solutions for the company. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline required.
  • Knowledgeable of a broad array of engineering principles including systems engineering, electric circuit design, hardware and software design and revision control, refrigeration system design, reliability metrics and test plans, block diagramming and process mapping and product costing.
  • Agency acumen – preferably UL, CE and NSF as well as emerging requirements related to connectivity.
  • Strong system-level thinking with the ability to define requirements, interfaces, and architecture across hardware, software, and mechanical subsystems
  • Experience with controls and automation systems, including PLCs or embedded platforms and industrial communications
  • Knowledge of connected products / IoT concepts, including device integration, data flow, and basic cybersecurity considerations
  • Ability to support product development lifecycle activities, including prototyping, validation, pilot builds, and production launch
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, including mentoring engineers and influencing design decisions across teams
  • Strong documentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, cross functional environment

Nice To Haves

  • Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma is a significant plus.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
