About The Position

AEO Employment Services CO LLC seeks a Staff Engineer- Merchandising Software to design and build specialized retail merchandising software. This is a fully remote position that can be performed from anywhere in the United States. Periodic in-person presence is required at a Pittsburgh or NYC headquarters, distribution center, or field location for interviews, orientation, and quarterly meetups. The role provides 24/7 support for critical merchandising platforms.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Five years of post-baccalaureate, progressively responsible experience in a related software development or architecture position.
• Five years of experience working with legacy CMS Oracle WebCenter Sites and preparing for migration to modern CMS platforms such as Contentstack.
• Five years of experience with asset management and delivery, including image management processes in a retail environment, such as sample management, high-volume production workflows, publishing, and delivery.
• Five years of experience developing custom solutions in AEM and configuring Scene7 for high-traffic image delivery with predefined presets.
• Three years of experience with cloud-native development, microservices architecture, and API integration for real-time retail applications.
• Three years of experience with developer tools and workflow orchestration, including Backstage for service discovery and Temporal for distributed workflow orchestration.
• Three years of programming and DevOps experience, including proficiency in Java, automated CI/CD pipelines, advanced concurrency design patterns in containerized microservices using Kubernetes, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for high-volume retail applications.
• Three years of experience leading and mentoring junior engineers to drive best practices and contribute to engineering excellence.
• Three years of experience providing 24/7 on-call operational support for critical merchandising platforms.
• Experience may be concurrent.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deploy enterprise-scale content management solutions using Contentstack.
• Integrate Cloudinary for dynamic image processing within merchandising systems.
• Manage creative asset workflows via CreativeForce to support seamless team collaboration.
• Migrate and decommission Oracle WebCenter Sites and Adobe Scene7.
• Implement Backstage for an internal developer portal and service discovery.
• Introduce Temporal for distributed workflow orchestration in merchandising.
• Mentor junior engineers on cloud-native and microservices development.
• Provide 24/7 support, including on-call operational support for critical merchandising platforms.
