Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience (internship or co-op experience preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of roadway and/or traffic engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with NJDOT, AASHTO, and MUTCD standards is a plus.
  • Experience with design and analysis software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Synchro, HCS, etc.) preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and preparation of roadway and traffic engineering plans, including alignments, profiles, signage, striping, and maintenance of traffic plans.
  • Support traffic engineering studies such as traffic impact studies, signal warrant analyses, and capacity analysis.
  • Perform data collection and analysis, including traffic counts and field observations.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, and supporting documentation.
  • Utilize design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Synchro, and/or HCS.
  • Coordinate with internal team members across multiple disciplines.
  • Attend project meetings and assist with client coordination as needed.
  • Support construction phase services, including shop drawing review and field inspections.
