About The Position

SonderMind is seeking a Staff Front End Engineer (Software Engineer IV) to join their innovative team in building AI-powered tools that partner with therapists. This role involves architecting the future of therapy by crafting user-facing experiences for an intelligent copilot for providers, enhancing their capabilities and transforming the lives of clients. Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as a front-end or full-stack engineer with a strong specialization in UI development, scalable front-end architecture, and design systems
  • Deep proficiency in TypeScript and Angular (or equivalent modern framework experience with willingness to go deep in Angular)
  • Strong command of modern CSS, responsive design, and web performance optimization
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining design systems and reusable component libraries
  • Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and how to build inclusive interfaces
  • Experience integrating front-end applications with RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs
  • Highly motivated to learn how to build agentic applications and front-end experiences for LLM-powered products
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical, architectural, and/or organizational problems and propose thorough, iterative solutions
  • Proven ability to work closely with other Engineers, Product Managers, Designers, and other Stakeholders
  • Proven ability to thrive in fast-growing, product-driven companies by effectively navigating loosely defined tasks and managing competing priorities or deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • MS in Computer Science or related field
  • Strong experience developing and documenting design systems (e.g., Storybook, Iris)
  • Experience leveraging AI coding assistant tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude)
  • Familiarity with back-end technologies such as Node.js, Ruby on Rails, or Python (enough to collaborate effectively across the stack)
  • Experience with relational databases like Postgres
  • Experience working in AWS
  • Rapid experimentation such as A/B testing, feature flags, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and build complex, user-centric front-end features in Angular/TypeScript, partnering closely with back-end engineers on API contracts and integrations.
  • Lead the evolution of our design system and component library, establishing patterns that scale across teams and products.
  • Drive front-end architectural decisions around state management, performance, accessibility (WCAG), and testing strategy.
  • Collaborate deeply with the UX team to translate research and design into polished, production-ready experiences, and partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Applied Science.
  • Own the full front-end software lifecycle (design, build, test, and operate) while maintaining high code quality through unit, component, and end-to-end tests.
  • Identify and implement AI-driven front-end experiences that streamline provider workflows and reduce administrative burden.
  • Mentor engineers via code reviews and pair programming, and champion internal standards for style, maintainability, accessibility, and performance.
  • Ship features consistently with minimal guidance, troubleshoot UI and integration issues through data and code analysis, and evaluate emerging front-end tools and frameworks.
