Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman Launch Systems is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer for the team. This position is located in Chandler, AZ and supports the GPI program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university and 12 years of relevant experience, OR a Masters degree and 10 years of relevant experience, OR a PhD and 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be capable of understanding and adhering to department design standards.
  • Ability to work in an Agile project format, team-based environment, including Jira and Git environments.
  • Experience with Cadence Schematic Capture and board layout using Allegro.
  • Experience with updating designs using HyperLynx signal integrity tools.
  • Proficiency with circuit simulation including PSpice or LTSpice.
  • Experienced in hardware troubleshooting / software debugging. Physical testing experience including lab measurement (oscilloscope, signal/function generator, logic analyzer, etc).
  • Experience generating design documents, specifications, user's manuals, test plans and procedures.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, as well as interpersonal and organizational skills and a proactive, detail-oriented approach.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Cadence Allegro PWB, CAM350, Matlab, VHDL, Python.
  • Familiarity with microprocessor and/or FPGA circuit design.
  • Familiarity with circuit design for military/space environments.
  • Active U.S. Government Security Clearance is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of complex electrical design and interfaces for the Glide Phase Interceptor (GPI) flight controller.
  • Direct the development, review, and configuration control of schematics, layouts and circuit card assemblies within the GPI flight controller.
  • Perform and oversee advanced electrical analyses, trade studies, and design reviews for the boards within the GPI flight controller.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks; develop and present design-change proposals; and manage electrical design baselines in coordination with the avionics design group’s configuration-management processes.
  • Integrate electrical designs with propulsion, guidance, control, and weapon-system subsystems to support system-level integration, verification, and test planning.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to engineering team members and cross-functional partners, promoting best practices, continuous-process improvement, and knowledge sharing across the GPI flight controller.
  • Serve as primary technical liaison with internal program stakeholders, representing the avionics design group in technical reviews, audits, and working groups.
