About The Position

BHC Consultants is a consulting engineering, planning, and building code and construction compliance firm with offices in Seattle, Tacoma, and Bellingham, Washington. We are seeking an energetic, dedicated, and resourceful full time Electrical Engineer candidate who is eager to fast track their career under the tutelage of respected senior professional engineers and project managers. Collaboration with staff in all offices should be expected; preferred location can be prioritized. BHC is a growing firm with a significant backlog of municipal consulting services contracts for cities, counties, and special purpose districts in the Northwest, supported primarily by Western Washington clients. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (Electrical Engineering or other Engineering discipline)
  • Engineer‐in‐Training (EIT) certification preferred, ability to qualify for professional engineering licensure within 8 years
  • 0 – 4 Years Experience

Responsibilities

  • Design of the electrical components of a wide variety of projects including commercial, industrial, municipal, water and wastewater treatment, and pump station projects.
  • Cabling system selection, sizing, and routing.
  • Electrical gear specification and layout.
  • Lighting fixtures selection and layout.
  • Engine generator sizing.
  • Electrical system condition assessment.
  • Construction observation.
  • Communications and notification systems specification and layout.
  • Instrumentation and control system selection, specification, and layout.
  • Responsibility for design of electrical systems from project definition through construction.
  • Interface with owners, architects, engineers, vendors, code inspectors, and utility personnel.
  • Work within established budgets and schedules.
  • Manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Provide electrical design and engineering for various electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, instrumentation and controls, grounding, telecommunications and fire alarm systems.
  • Apply current codes and standards to designs.
  • Perform electrical load and voltage drop calculations.
  • Prepare short circuit and overcurrent device coordination studies.
  • Perform cost estimates of electrical designs.
  • Prepare electrical specifications.
  • Provide energy efficient and sustainable design.
  • Provide construction assistance, including review of contractor submittmits, answering contractor questions, and observing construction.
