Staff Engineer, AI & Platform Engineering

Science Exchange, Inc.•San Francisco, CA
•$200,000 - $220,000•Remote

About The Position

We are looking for a Staff Engineer with deep technical experience and a track record of leading complex engineering initiatives. At Science Exchange, you will help architect and scale a platform that accelerates scientific research. We are seeking an engineer who can operate at a high technical level while also raising the bar for the rest of the team, including our adoption of AI assisted development practices. Our platform is built using a combination of Salesforce and AWS, and this role will play a key part in shaping how both are used going forward. The ideal candidate is a seasoned engineer who thinks in systems, not just tickets. You have led architectural decisions, mentored other engineers, and are comfortable being the person a team turns to when a hard problem needs solving. You have hands-on experience using AI tools in your own engineering workflow, whether that is AI-assisted coding, code review, testing, or documentation, and you are excited to teach those practices to others. You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical partners, and you take ownership of outcomes, not just output.

  • Experience with Salesforce development, including Apex, SOQL, and the LWC framework, is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical design discussions and drive architectural decisions across a team
  • Proven track record mentoring engineers and improving team-level engineering practices and processes
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design, agile development, and remote collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and GitHub
