About The Position

PDF Solutions (NASDAQ: PDFS) is seeking a Field Escalation Support Electrical Systems Engineer to join the team focusing on developing a cutting-edge electron beam inspection tool (eProbe®). These tools are basically high-speed scanning electron microscopes (SEM) used at 300mm semiconductor wafer fabs to implement PDF’s Design-for-Inspection (DFI) methodology used in yield ramp and manufacturing control. The Field Escalation Support Electrical Systems Engineer is a subject matter expert who provides advanced, on-site, and remote technical support for complex electrical issues that the primary field service team cannot resolve. He/she serves as the point contact of technical escalation for complex electrical and electronic system malfunctions in eProbe® tools at customer sites (fabs). This expert troubleshoots, diagnoses, and implements solutions for system-level issues involving electrical systems such as high-voltage/low-voltage power supplies, e-beam column control/detection systems, motion control systems, etc., ensuring minimal equipment downtime and high customer satisfaction. The role requires deep expertise in e-beam technology and electrical engineering principles.

Requirements

  • Degree in electrical engineering, physics, or an equivalent engineering field.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 10 years’ industry experience or master’s degree with 8 years’ industry experience or doctoral degree with 4 years’ industry experience.
  • Proven experience in field engineering or electronic system design and development, preferably within the semiconductor or electron microscopy industry.
  • Hands-on experience with e-beam products, high-voltage equipment, precision electronics, and high vacuum electronics is highly preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently, both domestically and internationally, often on short notice.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing complex electrical issues.
  • Proficiency in using electronic test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with digital and analog circuit design principles, control systems, and electron beam diagnostics instrumentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, strong attention to detail, project management capabilities, and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with e-beam products, high-voltage equipment, precision electronics, and high vacuum electronics is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary liaison between the field service teams, customers, and internal electrical engineering team for critical, unresolved electrical technical issues.
  • Generate, update, and refine escalation action plans and root-cause models.
  • Lead failure analysis and conduct root cause analysis of field failures related to electrical systems, power electronics, and control systems using advanced diagnostic equipment.
  • Provide feedback to electrical engineering team on field performance and recurrent issues to influence future product development and service improvements.
  • When needed, support the installation and commissioning of new eProbe® systems and perform upgrades related to electrical sub-systems on existing equipment at customer sites.
  • Perform hands-on repairs, calibration, adjustments, and testing on complex electrical components, printed circuit boards, high-voltage systems, etc.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, document engineering changes, maintain detailed service records, and contribute to internal knowledge bases and training materials for field teams.
