About The Position

The Staff Electrical Engineer provides senior technical leadership for electrical design, hardware architecture and product development across avionics, defence and rugged electronic systems. The role is a senior individual contributor position, remaining primarily technical while providing guidance across electrical design and related systems engineering activities. The position owns and drives electrical and hardware architecture from concept through design, verification, qualification and product lifecycle support. It also supports customer-facing technical discussions, helping define the real system need, clarify requirements, resolve ambiguity, align technical scope with program outcomes and provide system-level input into certification strategy, requirements interpretation and technical justification for compliance.

Requirements

  • Degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, systems engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Significant experience in electrical engineering for avionics, defence, aerospace, rugged electronics or other safety-critical electronic systems.
  • Strong technical breadth across electrical design, hardware architecture, interfaces, verification, qualification and sustainment support.
  • Experience with schematic capture, PCB design processes, electrical design documentation, configuration control and design release practices.
  • Working knowledge of DO‑160, MIL‑STD testing, EMI/EMC design and test practices, harsh-environment qualification and aviation certification frameworks; experience with TSO, STC, DO‑254 or certification substantiation would be highly regarded.
  • Practical and hands-on, with strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers, regulators, suppliers and internal engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to electrical design activities, including architecture definition, schematic design, PCB design/layout, component selection, design reviews and technical problem solving.
  • Translate customer, system and certification requirements into practical electrical design approaches, requirements, interfaces and verification strategies.
  • Work with systems and engineering teams to define electrical architecture, manage interfaces and ensure electrical designs meet system-level requirements.
  • Support certification and qualification activities, including DO‑160, MIL‑STD, TSO, STC, EMI/EMC and harsh-environment design and test requirements.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, including design descriptions, requirements, interface definitions, compliance justifications, qualification plans, test reports and customer-facing technical responses.
  • Support supplier engagement, product sustainment and customer technical discussions where senior electrical and system-level judgement is required.
