About The Position

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. We have an exciting career opportunity for a Staff Electrical Design Engineer with our Electrical Engineering team located in San Diego, CA (Poway, CA). Developing LRUs for the next generation of UAVs, responsible for analog, developing PWA (circuit design) for flight LRUs for the next generation of UAVs. Developing PWA (circuit design) for flight LRUs for the next generation of UAVs, to include analysis, verification testing, and documentation.

Requirements

• Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree.
• May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
• Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
• Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.
• Able to work extended hours as required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• This position supports the design and development of advanced electrical components, equipment and systems for unmanned air vehicles.
• Responsible for analog, digital and power conversion circuit design for military applications with appropriate analysis and/or CAD modeling.
• Responsible for control schemes, analog, digital, magnetic and electric machine design and/or specification, EMI design, thermal analysis and packaging.
• Documentation necessary to support production (i.e. test procedures, records, bill of materials, Interface Control Document, Source Control Documents, detailed design specifications and production support) and training.
• Provide field support as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
