About The Position

Keystone is seeking a seasoned writer and journalistic thinker with social media expertise to launch a storytelling initiative. This role will focus on amplifying Keystone's work, impact, and the stories behind its projects to clients and the public. The Staff Editor will immerse themselves in Keystone's operations, understanding its work, case types (often related to AI, antitrust, or complex business issues), key personnel (world-renowned experts, economists, policy thinkers), and identifying storytelling opportunities. Responsibilities may include interviewing experts, attending podcast recordings, developing social media strategies, accompanying executives to events, and writing LinkedIn posts. The goal is to produce a consistent weekly output of original, short-form editorial and social media content that highlights internal activities, leverages the company's expert network, and showcases industry trends across platforms like LinkedIn, newsletters, the website, and an upcoming podcast.

Requirements

  • A self-starter with a reporter’s instinct who can hit the ground running.
  • Curious, quick on their feet, and excited about searching for story opportunities.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Proactive, asks questions, takes initiative, comfortable pushing back, and autonomous.
  • Impeccable writing skills, with the ability to translate highly technical and dense concepts into readable, accurate, and enticing copy.
  • Highly organized and able to manage and track multiple moving pieces, including editorial calendars, analytics, and executive updates.
  • Well-versed in LinkedIn and social media best practices for creating compelling and engaging social copy.
  • Startup mentality and willingness to be a jack-of-all-trades (writing, photography, video, marketing copy).
  • Proficient in AI tools for trend reports, analytics tracking, and industry news monitoring.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage with people, understand roles, and uncover happenings.
  • 5-10 years of writing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Running Keystone’s LinkedIn account, including writing posts, concepting visuals, scheduling, and monitoring engagement.
  • Adhering to optimal posting times, hashtags, and visual guidance for social media.
  • Maintaining a robust weekly editorial calendar for content.
  • Setting up analytics systems to track content progress.
  • Developing and producing three monthly newsletters: one for alumni (KeystoneNext), one for experts, and one for clients.
  • Writing newsletter copy, building them in the CMS, pulling imagery, requesting graphics, and translating newsletters into social media posts.
  • Refining website copy.
  • Prepping briefing documents and interview questions for the CEO for panels.
  • Ghostwriting op-eds.
  • Providing feedback on video and podcast content.
  • Managing the “News” section of the website, ensuring articles are up-to-date, have appropriate teaser art, and enticing headlines.
  • Working closely with the CEO on various tasks, including occasional ghostwriting, briefing documents, and suggested questions for interviews.
  • Snapping photos and filming off-the-cuff video.
  • Coming up with snappy marketing copy.
  • Proficiently using AI tools for tasks like setting up weekly trend reports on AI and antitrust, tracking analytics systems, and staying updated on industry news.
