About The Position

Under the direction of the News Editor, the Staff Editor (levels I and II) will fulfill editing and/or assignment duties for The Gazette and other Clarity publications. Additional Newsroom duties may be assigned pending operational needs. The Staff Editor shift includes nights, weekends and holidays.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Proficiency in editing and presentation.
• Proficiency in digital journalism.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to work night, weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• At least 4 years of news experience is preferred.
• Interest in sports and/or sports expertise preferred.

Responsibilities

• Edit content for The Gazette and other Clarity publications as assigned. Ensure that all Gazette journalism standards are followed, including accuracy, fairness and style.
• Assign stories and work with reporters and other journalists in producing credible and compelling content. Write and develop stories as needed.
• Assist in the planning and production of digital, print and other news products. Consistently meet deadlines.
• Assist with other production duties as assigned or warranted.
