Department of Health Services Community Programs (Housing for Health for Homelessness) and Office of Diversion and Reentry seek qualified candidates to fill emergency Staff Development Specialist, Health Services vacancies within Health Services Community Programs related to the homelessness crisis. Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment. Before your initial work period ends, you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100%. Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment to Staff Development Specialist, Health Services in Health Services Community Programs. MISSION: To advance the health of our patients and our communities by providing extraordinary care. DEFINITION: Develops, implements and conducts staff development training programs for Health Services staff responsible for processing a variety of governmental medical assistance applications and other follow-up activities related to the training program of the Department of Health Services. Conducts needs assessments to identify educational courses or activities and improve employee work productivity. Develops training plans to meet identified needs for Patient Access or Patient Financial Services staff and other staff involved in governmental medical assistance applications and patient access programs. Develops training programs for health services staff, including medical care programs administered in the various units of the department, staff's role in meeting the objectives of these programs, and interviewing skills for interacting with patients and their families. Develops and conducts training programs for new health services staff assigned to financial screening and patient access tasks. Develops, implements, reviews, revises, and maintains training programs designed to inform and update departmental managers and staff with the most up-to-date health care program information to enforce and support their knowledge of eligibility requirements and procedures and improve their work skills. Develops and utilizes evaluation studies and measurement tools to aid in assessing the effectiveness and modification of training programs, and in improving their quality in determining additional training needs. Identifies, organizes and refines subject matter to be taught in training programs to assure maximum effectiveness. Participates in administrative studies, audits or research projects as assigned.
