About The Position

Reporting to the Manager of Learning & Organizational Development, the Staff Development Instructor is responsible for supporting and providing agency wide training i.e. TCI, CARE and UKERU. This work must be carried out in accordance with corporate and managerial direction, agency policy and professional standards. The Staff Development instructor facilitates, monitors, and evaluates employees in specific areas of expertise. This will require learning & development knowledge, including best practices in adult and engaged learning principles, and the ability to understand and translate strategies into effective learning solutions to support the achievement of the agency's strategic plan. The incumbent is a trusted expert and will be responsible for coordinating and enhancing the organization's learning and development resources and initiatives to improve organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, and client outcomes. The Staff development instructor communicates with supervisors, supervises learners, and contributes to creating a safe, structured, and comfortable learning environment.

Requirements

  • University degree in education, human resource management, or related field of study.
  • The ability to apply knowledge can be obtained from 3-5 years of work experience in an educational or training environment.
  • Minimum two (2) years of adult teaching or training experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) year permanent or acting experience in a supervisor capacity.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in program role.
  • Proven ability to influence and gain respect, credibility, and confidence from others.
  • Proven client service orientation.
  • Demonstrated change management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Ranch Ehrlo Society policies, procedures and standards related to systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to develop relevant information and recognize potential impacts.
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of adult and workplace learning principles with the ability to incorporate a variety of practices including experiential learning, action learning experiences, mentoring and other program needs that support competency and career development.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate at the right level for the intended audience using various methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, review, plan, implement and evaluate training/initiatives.
  • Strong planning and organizing skills, with the proven ability to prioritize, handle multiple assignments, and work accurately within tight timelines.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, delegate, motivate, coach, mentor, and support others.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with proven facilitation and presentation skills.

  • Strong computer skills with demonstrated abilities in Excel and Learning Management Software.

  • Certificate in Adult and Continuing Education (CACE), Certified Training Practitioner (CTP), Certified Learning and Development Practitioner (CTDP) or other relevant designation is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with other personnel/instructors to deliver agency training.
  • Delivers program instruction within pre-determined curriculum.
  • Uses a variety of proven instruction methods based on an applied experiential learning model.
  • Orients and mentors new instructors.
  • Provides written and verbal feedback to participants.
  • Meets with students to review strengths and weaknesses.
  • Conducts learner evaluations.
  • Documents learner progress for staff records.
  • Identifies ‘at-risk’ learners and directs them to the Director, Learning & Organizational Development.
  • Participates in the organizing and care of equipment and ambulances.
  • Deliver/facilitate programs as required (workshops, courses, etc.).
  • Research and develops content and lesson plans handouts and assessments incorporating appropriate and varying instructional methods.
  • Provides training-related reports, updates, statistics, etc., as required.
  • Submits training reports, program budgets, training plans, and budget which will identify safety, maintenance, and operational training requirements.
  • Implement meaningful, relevant, employee and director learning and organizational development activities that link to agency goals and objectives.
  • Stay current on research and monitor best practices in leadership development and implement as appropriate for the organization.
  • Engaging focus groups in the program design and content and continuously improve leadership development programs to support the agency's strategy and leadership development needs to support succession planning.
  • Collaborates with other staff and professionals in the development of instructional programs, policies, guidelines, instructional material, etc., as required through consultation with supervisor.
  • Maintains adherence to training objectives and accreditation standards through accurate and complete records.
  • Evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of training programs and services on an ongoing basis, recommending enhancements with the goal of improving service delivery and effectiveness of programs.
  • Provide administration, promotion, and management of program logistics, tracking and reporting to ensure training requirements are met.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate and deliver training and resources in support of onboarding, induction training and professional development.
  • Support leadership development projects/initiatives through to delivery in complex multi stakeholder environments.
  • Observes and evaluates learner’s work and behavior to determine progress and provide directions for improvement.
  • Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the learners for whom they are responsible.
  • Manage learning projects/initiatives through to delivery in multi stakeholder environments.
  • Provide expertise to develop departmental and individual education and training.
  • Work with subject matter experts in designing, developing, and implementing organizational and occupational training programs to ensure agency goals are met.
  • Trains and supports agency facilitators including evaluation and coaching.
  • Lead and assist management and supervisory staff to address changes in the work environment and promote a learning culture within the organization.
  • Establish relationships with outside agencies to provide outsourced facilitation to our agency.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to understand current state, desired future state, and the gaps.
  • Develops, organizes and/or delivers training programs, in-service, or specialized training to meet organizational needs, such as, but not limited to, computer training, legislative changes, team building sessions.
  • Maintains learner records, as appropriate, including attendance, correspondence, and administers evaluation instruments to monitor learner progress and to provide feedback.
  • Develop a workplan and utilize agency and external resources to achieve learning and training objectives that connect to the agency strategic plan.
  • Ensures evaluations and attendance records are accurately completed after training and are submitted to administration.
  • Collaborate with various committees, working groups and teams in developing and delivery of training programs.
  • Accountable for the cost-effective stewardship of pre-approved expenses, equipment, inventories, supplies and budgets.
  • Coordinates the process of maintaining and updating training equipment of the agency and recommends and orders new equipment to meet training and organizational needs.
  • Participate in identifying and justifying improvements, programs, resources, and budgetary projections.
  • Support the agency’s diversity workforce strategy when managing resources.
  • Maintain, promote, and reinforce safe work habits, practices, and procedures.
  • Adhere to written or verbal agency and government regulations, policies, practices, and instructions.
  • Include health and safety in departmental training initiatives with measurable goals and objectives.
  • Ensure employees are working/ learning in compliance with established safe work practices.
  • The incumbent is responsible for completing all mandatory training requirements for the position as per agency policy and guidelines.
