Requirements

Professionally trained in nursing, medical technology, microbiology, epidemiology, or related fields (e.g., physician, pharmacist, or physician’s assistant), with relevant licensure and no active disciplinary actions.
Education, training, or certification in infection control and prevention, including specialized training through accredited continuing education.
Meets all state-specific licensure and certification requirements.

Responsibilities

Create, implement, and update infection prevention and control policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with current standards of practice.
Lead infection control assessments, provide ongoing training to staff, and ensure proper documentation of infection prevention activities.
Work with other departments to maintain occupational health standards, oversee the antibiotic stewardship program, and report communicable diseases to public health authorities.
