The Staff Development Coordinator reports to the Director of Care and is a management (non bargaining unit) administrative position responsible for leading the Home’s staff education and competency program. The role provides program ownership for orientation and ongoing mandatory education and maintains access to confidential training and performance-related education records to support compliance and workforce development. In alignment with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 and Ontario Regulation 246/22, the Staff Development Coordinator coordinates and delivers required orientation and annual training for employees, agency/contract staff, volunteers, private caregivers, and students, ensuring learning is completed, documented, and readily available to support inspection readiness. The Coordinator collaborates with nursing leadership, IPAC, and CQI/Risk partners to assess annual learning needs, implement evidence-informed education plans, and strengthen person-centred practice through coaching, refreshers, and competency validation across all shifts. The Staff Development Coordinator fosters a person- and family-centred learning culture that supports safe clinical practice, respectful communication, and culturally safe and appropriate approaches to care and emergency preparedness.
