About The Position

The Staff Development Coordinator oversees part-time employee onboarding, training, and development initiatives for University Recreation + Wellness, with a focus on fostering student staff growth, engagement, and success. This position designs and implements development programming, leads department-wide staff recognition and leadership initiatives, and supports employee communications and advisory board efforts. The role also manages training processes, employee records, and compliance-related hiring support for 400+ hourly staff, while serving as a primary resource for student employee inquiries. Additionally, the coordinator assists with recruitment strategies, budget management, assessment efforts, and the development of short- and long-term goals related to staff development and departmental success. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, collaborative working relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree in a related field from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Experience with student development programming

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education or related field from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least one year of student development programming experience
  • Experience in the campus recreation and/or student affairs setting
  • Knowledge of student development theory
  • Knowledge of staff development program design and management
