About The Position

The Staff Development Coordinator (SDC) coordinates, develops, and conducts training programs for Salemtowne associates to encourage and ensure more effective residents care while meeting state and federal requirements. Serves as Salemtowne’s Infection Preventionist.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of computers and healthcare software.

  • Superior written and verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • High degree of personal accountability, responsibility, and independent decision-making abilities with the skills to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the organization.
  • Sound critical thinking skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing/adult education.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years in adult education.
  • Active RN license for state of NC or one that is permissible due to reciprocity from the incoming state where the team member resides.
  • SPICE Infection Perfectionist Certification or obtains within 1 year of hire.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Normal sitting, pulling/pushing, kneeling, stooping, bending, reaching, talking, and hearing.
  • Standing and sitting for long periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • MatrixCare experience preferred.
  • Experience in developing and facilitating nursing/healthcare education programs.
  • Prior experience in leveraging learning management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in needs analysis and confers with healthcare management to gain knowledge of and determine specific work situations requiring associates to better understand job tasks and/or changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies.
  • Coordinates and/or conducts training for healthcare staff in conjunction with the needs identified by nursing or by federal and state inspections/regulations.
  • Coordinates and/or conducts regulatory/compliance in-services required of CCRCs and participates in new hire orientation.
  • Teaches all team members how to navigate & manage learning management system (Paycom).
  • Coordinates and/or conducts training on use of computers and software applications used by healthcare staff, health & safety practices, refresher training, and other topics requested by healthcare management (Care Tracker, Accuflo, Matrix Care).
  • Coordinates, selects and or develops teaching aids such as self-study training, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and demonstration models as needed in addition to the learning management system (Paycom).
  • Facilitates new team member onboarding and annual in-services.
  • Coordinates and/or formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, meetings, and workshops.
  • Facilitates CNA training program and obtains/maintains state license.
  • In collaboration with the healthcare management, coordinates skills assessment of associates and trainees to measure progress and evaluate skills.
  • Collects, researches, deciphers data, and creates reports.
  • Maintains necessary documentation and reports related to training efforts.
  • Manages special projects as assigned and completes in a timely manner.
  • Collects, researches, and deciphers data and creates reports.
  • Serves as Salemtowne’s Infection Preventionist maintains necessary documentation and reports related to infection control.
  • Manages infection prevention tracking and reporting.
  • Participates and reports data in QAA/QAPI.
  • Coordinates annual Flu and COVID Booster Clinics for the community.
  • Embraces the "Neighborhood" philosophy & participation in education of team members for a successful transition.
  • Enhances Salemtowne’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Participates in a 24 hour/7day on call/weekend rotation to ensure appropriate RN/LPN coverage per regulations and takes assignment in resident care as needed.
  • Promotes and supports the Salemtowne Shines culture and philosophy.
  • Accepts and performs other duties as assigned by management.
