About The Position

WD is building the infrastructure behind the AI-driven data economy. As AI scales, so does data. Every interaction, every model, every system generates data that must be stored, managed, and made accessible over time. That’s where we come in. We combine deep engineering expertise with global-scale manufacturing to deliver the storage systems that make AI possible, powering hyperscale data centers, cloud platforms, and enterprise infrastructure worldwide. This isn’t theoretical work. It’s real systems, at real scale, people solving some of the hardest challenges in technology today. We’re looking for people who want to build, solve, and operate at that level. Join us and let’s shape the future of data. We are seeking a Staff Full-Stack Web Engineer to provide technical leadership in designing, building, enhancing, and supporting web applications and services that enable teams across engineering, quality, manufacturing, and customer support. This role is ideal for a highly experienced engineer who can drive architecture, lead complex initiatives across teams, and guide solutions from concept through deployment and long-term evolution. The ideal candidate combines deep full-stack engineering expertise with strong technical judgment, cross-functional influence, and a practical approach to solving business problems at scale.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience in C#, Java, or another object-oriented programming language.
  • 8+ years of experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Strong experience building modern web frontends using frameworks or libraries such as Vue.js, React, Angular, Bootstrap, or equivalent technologies.
  • Strong experience with server-side web development using C# / ASP.NET or comparable backend frameworks.
  • Strong experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or MySQL.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical projects from requirements through production release and ongoing support.
  • Experience defining architecture, technical standards, and scalable design approaches for business applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across teams and lead through collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of experience in full-stack software engineering, with significant depth in C# and ASP.NET.
  • Deep SQL development and performance tuning experience across Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL.
  • Experience modernizing legacy web applications and improving maintainability, performance, scalability, and user experience.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development practices.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and serving as a technical lead across multiple concurrent efforts.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and quality—for example code generation, refactoring, unit test creation, documentation, debugging, and code review support—while applying sound judgment, secure coding practices, and appropriate validation of AI-generated output.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, development, deployment, and long-term support of scalable web applications, APIs, and supporting services.
  • Drive complex initiatives across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements discovery, solution design, implementation, testing, release planning, deployment, and operational support.
  • Partner with stakeholders across customer support, engineering, quality assurance, and manufacturing to translate business needs into reliable, maintainable, and scalable technical solutions.
  • Establish technical direction for frontend and backend application development, including framework selection, system design patterns, integration strategies, and engineering standards.
  • Design and optimize relational data models, database schemas, queries, and integrations to support business-critical workflows.
  • Lead resolution of complex application, data, and system integration issues, and implement durable corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review code, mentor engineers, and raise the overall quality bar through best practices in software design, testing, documentation, observability, and maintainability.
  • Influence engineering processes, technical roadmaps, and modernization efforts, including improvements to legacy systems, developer productivity, and platform reliability.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams to align technical solutions with strategic priorities while balancing hands-on contribution with technical leadership.
