About The Position

The Staff Dentist is responsible for the provision of dental services in a Patient Centered Health Home context, with a focus on access to care. This role involves the direct provision of comprehensive dental services, meeting all established productivity expectations. The dentist will conduct examinations, review x-rays, medical and dental histories to determine diagnoses, and accurately document visits. Key accountabilities include achieving budgeted visits, meeting clinical care measures, and ensuring records are locked within the 72-hour window. The position also requires providing diagnostic, preventive, and restorative oral procedures, informing patients about oral health, discussing treatment options, and referring to specialists when necessary. Excellent customer service, courtesy, and active listening are essential, along with providing patients with appropriate educational materials. The Staff Dentist will monitor wait times, participate in daily huddles, and collaborate with ancillary health team members. Responsibilities extend to assisting in the assurance of clinical procedures, maintaining up-to-date clinical protocols, and ensuring OSHA and Standard Precautions are observed. Interaction with medical staff for comprehensive patient care, timely chart and peer review completion, and assisting supervisors with program planning, performance evaluations, and quality improvement initiatives are also part of the role. Participation in Network Health Fairs, community outreach, and providing feedback to dental residents and externs are expected. The dentist will participate in site and provider meetings, "On Call" coverage as scheduled, and meet Network and credentialing expectations. Adherence to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy is critical, as regular attendance is an essential function. The ability to work at any FHCN location based on business needs is required. Requirements

Completion of a Master's Degree or Doctoral-level Degree program with a recognized major and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5; or Successful attainment and maintenance of a valid, active professional license required for the role, issued by the appropriate governing or regulatory body.
Equivalent of extensive formal training in Dental studies, including an understanding of the application of the theory and practices of the profession to the operations of the organization, usually in the form of a Doctor of Dental Surgery or Dental Medicine Doctor degree.
Minimum credit score of 650.
Ability to create highly complex documents in Microsoft Word, including linking multiple files and embedding objects linked to other documents.
Ability to use advanced functions of Microsoft Excel, such as to create and manage databases, including creating standardized reports, or linking multiple worksheets and workbooks.
Ability to develop sophisticated presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, including the use of embedded objects, transitions and other elements.
Licensed in the state of California as a Dentist.
Effectively communicate professional opinions and extrapolations of information collected and synthesized/analyzed.
Determine appropriate methods of communicating information through the use of tables, graphs, charts, and other visual forms.
Preparation and execution of presentations to large groups.
Regularly required to sit and use repetitive hand movement to grasp and type.
Frequently required to stand or walk.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

Direct provision of dental services meeting all established productivity expectations.
Provide comprehensive dental examination and review appropriate x-rays, medical and dental histories to determine a diagnosis.
Document visits accurately utilizing appropriate templates and records relevant data to attain a diagnosis.
Attain budgeted visits.
Meet clinical care measures.
Lock records in the 72-hour window.
Perform diagnostic, preventive and restorative oral procedures.
Evaluate the current health and condition of the patient’s teeth to determine the diagnosis of any existing dental condition.
Inform patients on how to prevent dental problems and keep their teeth and mouth as healthy as possible.
Consider treatment methods and explain options with the patient to determine which work best based on their situation.
Refer patients to orthodontists, oral surgeons, periodontists or other specialists for more advanced dental procedures and treatment.
Provide excellent customer service and care.
Consistently behave with courtesy when interacting with patients/family members, support staff and Network staff.
Listen to patients/family members and show an understanding of patients’ needs.
Provide the patient with educational materials and resources appropriate to the patient’s health literacy needs.
Achieve patient status as measured by relevant clinical quality measures.
Remain aware of wait time during the daily workflow.
Promote and participate in daily huddles.
Incorporate the participation of ancillary health team members in managing the care of the patients/families.
Assist in the assurance of clinical procedures and the maintenance of up-to-date clinical protocols.
Consistently observe and assure OSHA, and Standard Precautions are maintained.
Interact with professional medical staff in rendering comprehensive care to mutual patients.
Complete chart and peer review responsibility in a timely manner.
Assist supervisors in planning and implementing new programs for the dental department.
Participate in Network Health Fairs, screening activities and other community outreach events.
Assist the supervisor with input for performance evaluations of support staff and quality improvement.
Assist the NDD /CDD with the review and update of clinical policies and procedures.
Provide feedback and guidance to dental residents and dental assistant externs.
Participate in site and provider meetings in a meaningful way.
Participate with “On Call” coverage, per schedule.
Meet Network and credentialing expectations for licensure, and employment.
Adhere to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy.
Present to and work at any FHCN location, both at the beginning of a shift or during a shift, based on business need.
Perform other duties as assigned.
