About The Position

The Staff Dentist is an integral member of the Dental Hygiene Program who works in collaboration with the supervising dental hygiene faculty in treating patients scheduled for care in the JCCC dental hygiene on-site clinical facility. This current position is for Mondays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm that will begin in the fall 2026 semester. The Staff Dentist will supervise, mentor and assist students in evaluations for health records, restorative charting, caries risk, occlusion and radiographic surveys. Specifically, the dentist’s role includes: Performing an initial and periodic examination on patients presenting for periodontal maintenance, Providing a dental diagnosis for each patient, Making referrals for care beyond dental hygiene needs, Consulting on complex medical histories, Preparing prescriptions as needed, Reviewing radiographs with students and discussing the patient’s caries risk assessment and dental needs, Grading radiographs as indicated, Utilization of an Electronic Record and Digital Imaging Systems, Learning and following all JCCC clinical policies and procedures and the operation of the Dental Management System.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years Clinical Practice Experience
  • DDS License
  • Kansas Dental License
  • Ability to mentor students with constructive feedback

Responsibilities
