About The Position

Boulevard is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to build and lead the Product Intelligence function. This role involves defining the function's core responsibilities, engineering the necessary tech stack, conducting data analysis to inform product decisions, and applying data science techniques like experiment design and modeling to understand customer behavior and product usage. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, is a team builder, and is motivated by the opportunity to define processes and best practices for a scalable function from its inception. This is a foundational role that will significantly shape how Boulevard makes product decisions for years to come.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of proven experience in data science, product analytics, or engineering in a B2B SaaS or high-growth technology environment, with experience in early-stage or low data-maturity environments.
  • Fluency with data analysis and BI tools: SQL, Python/Jupyter notebooks, Snowflake, DBT, Sigma, and AWS infrastructure.
  • Strong proficiency with data modeling.
  • Direct experience designing and executing product instrumentation strategies, including defining event schemas and tracking plans.
  • Expertise in building dashboards and visualizations using platforms like Sigma, Looker, or Tableau.
  • Significant experience working directly with product managers and leaders to translate data findings into actionable opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute deep-dive analyses across the product lifecycle.
  • Deep, hands-on statistical and machine learning expertise applied to customer behavior.
  • Proven experience owning experimentation end-to-end, including design, analysis, and impact assessment.
  • Hands-on experience with experimentation platforms like Statsig or Optimizely.
  • Proficiency in causal-inference toolkit and its application when A/B testing is not possible.
  • Ability to build and own data pipelines, including production-grade DBT models, transformations, and orchestration in Snowflake.
  • Clear, confident communication with stakeholders at all levels.
  • High level of ownership, ability to manage projects end-to-end, navigate ambiguity, and build scalable processes.
  • Proven track record of partnering cross-functionally and using product data to influence leadership decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience evaluating or implementing product analytics tooling such as Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Build Boulevard’s product data foundation, defining data capture needs and designing models and tech stack in partnership with data engineering.
  • Develop data-driven recommendations for product strategy and action through storytelling and visualizations.
  • Build scalable, self-serve dashboards to empower teams for independent data exploration and decision-making.
  • Conduct deep-dive and exploratory analyses on customer behavior and product usage (e.g., funnel analysis, retention, cohort behavior, feature adoption).
  • Act as a liaison between product data and the broader organization, influencing cross-functional decisions.
  • Create team processes and analytical workflows for data accuracy and scalability.
  • Own the experimentation practice for Product Development, designing experiments, analyzing results, and establishing standards.
  • Apply statistical and machine learning methods to explain and predict customer behavior (e.g., propensity models, churn risk, segmentation).
  • Transition models from analysis to production, partnering with data engineering for scheduling, monitoring, and versioning.
  • Own model performance over time, including drift, retraining, and retirement.
