About The Position

The central Business Intelligence team at SIXT builds and maintains the SIXT Data Platform and its Data Catalogue, serving thousands of users globally. Our flagship product, the SIXT Data Shop, ingests tens of millions of events daily and delivers insights through a comprehensive toolbox — from self-service batch processes to real-time ML model endpoints. You will join a hands-on, collaborative team of Data Engineers and BI Engineers who are constantly pushing cutting-edge technologies forward, with a strong focus on operational automation, ETL workflows, and innovative customer use cases. Requirements

  • Hold a B.Tech, B.E., or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a similar discipline
  • At least 9+ years as a data engineer and a proven track record at senior or staff level
  • Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes, a broad range of AWS services, and building Terraform modules from scratch to enable infrastructure-as-code at scale
  • Experience with hybrid Data Lake and Data Warehouse architectures, including end-to-end ELT automation from source systems to analytical dashboards, as well as cloud data warehouses such as Redshift or Snowflake, dbt, and Apache Airflow
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants and agentic workflow automation, including the ability to leverage LLMs with contextual data and a solid understanding of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems
  • Strong foundation in agile methodologies, code reviews, source control (GitHub), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), testing, and operations, combined with a deep understanding of distributed systems and data storage and compute principles
  • Expert in Python and advanced SQL

Responsibilities

  • Explore, implement the latest AWS and big data technologies to uncover hidden opportunities, enable new capabilities, and build integrations for the SIXT Data Shop
  • Design, build, and operate the core infrastructure underpinning the Data Platform — including Kubernetes workloads, AWS services, and reusable Terraform modules — with a focus on reliability, scalability, and developer experience
  • Partner with Data Engineers, BI Analysts, and Data Scientists to architect optimal solutions for diverse analytical use cases, including dashboarding, ad hoc analytics, data-as-a-product, and machine learning
  • Contribute to the Data Platform vision and roadmap through your expertise and intellectual curiosity, setting technical direction and engineering standards that the wider team builds on
  • Demonstrate the highest standards of integrity and data protection when handling sensitive customer data
