About The Position

DAT Freight & Analytics is seeking a Staff Data Engineer, Finance to join the DAT Outgo engineering team. This role is crucial in revolutionizing financial services for the logistics industry by building robust, fault-tolerant systems that make real-time decisions and manage money flows with bank-grade reliability. The technology transforms the accounts receivable process through intelligent automation and visualization, enhancing the effectiveness of the operations team. For customers, the team crafts intuitive, trustworthy applications that set a new standard for financial services. The modern data stack is built on Snowflake and DBT and powered by AWS infrastructure, leveraging tools like Pulumi, Postgres, and Claude Code. The ideal candidate will partner with Finance, Accounting, and Capital Markets teams to build auditable, automated reporting systems, datasets, and visualizations. They will build and own data models focused on close processes, FP&A workflows, and asset and revenue reporting. This role requires a passion for building impactful products, technical craft, intellectual curiosity, strong collaboration, and individual ownership.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of combined experience in Data Engineering and/or Accounting or Finance, including at least 4 years in a Data Engineering role focused on building and maintaining analytical or product datasets
  • Experience with FP&A processes, close workflows, and financial reporting
  • Familiarity with GAAP vs. non-GAAP reporting and revenue recognition concepts
  • Track record of enabling teams to make decisions using data
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g. Snowflake), and data modeling concepts and tools (e.g. DBT)
  • Experience in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and data ingestion processes, including handling sensitive financial records
  • Experience with implementing monitoring and alerting for data pipelines
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Accounting, a related field, or equivalent experience
