The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) is seeking an attorney with two or more years of litigation experience and interest in issues affecting low-wage workers. The Office of Labor Policy & Standards (OLPS) within DCWP enforces the City’s worker protection laws, including the Protected Time Off Law, Fair Workweek scheduling laws, and Delivery Worker Laws. OLPS recovers monetary relief for workers through enforcement actions, litigates cases, and administers the Freelance Isn’t Free Act (FIFA) program. The office is expanding its enforcement staff and is involved in the next generation of labor laws. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent time management and organizational skills, enjoy complex legal research, collaboration with diverse teams (attorneys and non-attorneys), and creative problem-solving for novel legal and policy questions. This position may be eligible for remote work for up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Flexible Work Pilot Program.
