About The Position

Engineering Systems Inc. (ESi) is a multidisciplinary engineering and scientific investigation and failure analysis firm. We primarily work with law firms, insurance companies, and manufacturers on small to large-scale projects to answer any technical questions they have. As a firm, our projects can entail investigating major transportation accidents, equipment failures, personal injury claims, and damage to residential or commercial structures. Assist in performing analysis, research, and calculations. Prepare reports on regulatory, standards, and investigative related consulting projects. Work under direction of other engineers on the activities of large- and small- scale client projects involving mechanical engineering issues and related technical subjects in support of industrial consulting projects, insurance investigations, litigation analysis and support. Experience with product engineering and component design a plus.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, required
  • Minimum 1-5 years of forensic/failure analysis experience.
  • Registered mechanical professional engineer (P.E.) or possess the ability to become registered in next 2-4 years.
  • Familiarity with various pre- and post- processing software tools.
  • Expertise in either commercial solvers or programming languages used for high performance computing (MATLAB, C, C++, Python).
  • Experience with product engineering and components a plus.
  • Knowledge of fundamental computational methods (Finite Element Analysis and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics).
  • Experience and/or interest in design analysis fuel gasses product engineering fluids machine safeguarding/OSHA safety materials.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills (required).
  • Ability to interact with clients in a professional manner and develop business both internally and externally.
  • Must be able to work or travel on weekends and holidays as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conducts and directs field investigations as needed.
  • Performs engineering analysis, calculations, and research.
  • Work with clients to assess their objectives, perform fundamental mechanical analysis for a wide array of applications and industries, document analysis findings in reports and make presentations to clients.
  • Executes tests and analysis in support of scientific investigations and experiments.
  • Conduct engineering analysis and technical investigations pertaining to mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Creates well-developed and well- prepared client presentations.
  • Prepares technical reports, provides professional opinions and advice for clients, or others.
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
  • Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Directs and coordinates project activities and personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Reviews, or in some cases formulates status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
  • Work effectively within a multidisciplinary consultancy team.
