CrusoeChildress, TX
$136,000 - $165,000Onsite

About The Position

As a Staff Commissioning Engineer, you will serve as the primary point of accountability for commissioning activities across your assigned data center projects. You will own the full commissioning lifecycle — from factory witness testing through integrated systems testing and formal turnover — ensuring all electrical, and EPMS systems are delivered in alignment with design intent, Owner Project Requirements, and Crusoe's operational readiness standards. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong cross-functional coordination, and the ability to manage third-party commissioning agents and vendors with minimal oversight. (#INDDIG)

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in data center commissioning, construction, or critical infrastructure delivery.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field; equivalent commissioning experience considered (CxA certification a plus).
  • Deep knowledge of commissioning levels L1 through L5 and the associated documentation and testing requirements at each phase.
  • Hands-on experience with data center systems including power distribution and EPMS infrastructure.
  • Proven experience managing third-party commissioning agents and holding vendors accountable to scope, schedule, and quality.
  • Ability to review and interpret technical documentation including construction drawings, single-line diagrams, submittals, and test procedures.
  • Strong cross-functional coordination skills with the ability to align construction, engineering, controls, and operations teams around commissioning objectives.
  • Experience with issue tracking, risk management, and project reporting across multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • Solid understanding of safety and compliance requirements within active construction and commissioning environments.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required (75% travel).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site electrical subject matter expert for all commissioning activities, serving as the primary escalation point for technical issues across all project phases.
  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and O&M documentation to ensure alignment with design intent and project specifications.
  • Ensure Owner Project Requirements (OPR) remain aligned with commissioning scope throughout the project lifecycle, tracking changes and maintaining traceability to project objectives.
  • Oversee third-party commissioning agents (CxA), including scope development, performance management, deliverable tracking, and activity oversight such as factory witness testing and startup validation.
  • Identify equipment requiring factory testing and coordinate with the procurement team to schedule vendor testing activities.
  • Review and validate factory test procedures for compliance with project specifications prior to execution; oversee Factory Witness Testing (FWT) for off-site manufactured equipment.
  • Review and approve commissioning documentation including the Cx Plan, L2–L5 test scripts, reports, and turnover packages.
  • Oversee quality control processes including first-of-kind inspections and installation validation.
  • Drive issue identification, troubleshooting, remediation, and formal closure across all commissioning phases.
  • Ensure all commissioning activities — both static and dynamic testing — align with approved plans and performance standards.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between construction, engineering, controls, and operations teams throughout all project phases.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations by clearly defining commissioning processes, roles, and levels of engagement.
  • Ensure all commissioning documentation is complete, accurate, and supports a clean project turnover.
  • Support transition to operations by providing technical guidance, training coordination, and post-handover support as required.
  • Enforce safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements across all commissioning activities.
