About The Position

Haley & Aldrich is seeking a Staff Civil/Environmental Engineer 1 with 0-3 years of environmental field experience to join their growing team. This role involves working on complex environmental projects with collaborative, multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated problem solver with high attention to detail, capable of understanding and accurately extrapolating technical instructions to solve problems and create technically accurate environmental studies and associated design documents. This is a full-time position offering an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company, get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients, and accelerate professional development. The position is located in their Missoula, MT or Helena, MT office.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Has or applies for initial professional certification in their core discipline, where applicable, such as EIT, FE, or equivalent.
  • Must comply with the Guiding Principles and Code of Behavior articulated in our Company Charter.
  • Must comply with company and client Health & Safety protocols.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Establishes and maintains membership in one professional society or technical organization in their discipline or primary area of technical interest.
  • Computer Skills – Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in industry standard PC-based software and Autodesk AutoCAD.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER and MSHA certifications preferred.
  • Relevant work experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine data collection, synthesis, and analysis using approved procedures appropriate for their discipline.
  • Perform environmental site investigation and associated field work.
  • Perform and observe construction remediation field work.
  • Perform groundwater and temperature monitoring and soil and water sampling.
  • Assist in identifying technical issues and approaches for evaluation.
  • Review and apply applicable regulations as appropriate.
  • Conduct site reconnaissance.
  • Document project-related activities.
  • Assist project engineers with environmental data analyses.
  • Troubleshoot problems in remote locations.
  • Perform all work in accordance with company and client Health & Safety protocols.
  • Contribute to development of technical approaches to problem-solving.
  • Assist with the development of technical scopes of work and cost estimating for proposal efforts on small- to medium-sized project opportunities.
  • Observe and document field investigations and/or foundation and earthwork-related construction activities on a periodic basis.
  • Take ownership for task completion and be resourceful with solutions and proactive with questions.
  • Willingness to travel to support project work.
