About The Position

H2M Architects + Engineers is a multi-disciplined professional consulting and design firm with a long history of client service, consistently meeting tough architectural, engineering, and environmental challenges. The firm has helped design and build many communities since 1933. H2M is seeking a Staff Engineer with 0 to 4 years of experience to join their Civil Engineering Team. This role involves performing engineering design, calculations, and analysis for civil and site development projects, preparing site plan submissions, construction documents, and specifications for municipal civil engineering projects. The candidate will also assist with due diligence, site feasibility studies, research, site investigations, documenting field conditions, preparing reports, and responding to regulatory comments to obtain agency approvals. Additionally, the role includes conducting field observations during construction, interacting with contractors, and collaborating with civil teams in other offices and other H2M disciplines on multidiscipline projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Strong computer skills including AutoCAD and Civil 3D, Microsoft Office Applications and Photoshop.
  • 0 to 4 years design experience with a specific focus on civil/site and municipal engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices of related technical areas.
  • Team-spirited and self-motivated.
  • Focused and eager to learn.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering design, including calculations and analysis associated with civil and site development projects.
  • Prepare site plan submissions to municipalities which will include demolition, site, grading, drainage, sanitary, roadway, and erosion control plans.
  • Prepare construction documents and specifications for municipal civil engineering projects.
  • Assist in preparing due diligence and site feasibility studies.
  • Assist with conducting research, performing site investigations, documenting field conditions, and preparing reports.
  • Respond to and address regulatory comments to obtain agency approvals.
  • Conduct field observations during construction and interact with contractors in support of project.
  • Work with civil teams in other offices and other H2M disciplines on multidiscipline projects.
