About The Position

Located off the beautiful Oregon Coast, Adventist Health Tillamook has been one of the area's leading healthcare providers since 1950. We are comprised of a 25-bed critical access medical center, rural health and urgent care medical offices, home care services, and a vast scope of services located throughout Tillamook County and the surrounding areas. Job Summary: Provides spiritual counseling and support, in accordance with patient, family and interdisciplinary team member beliefs and desires. Communicates with and enables the clergy or faith community to support patients and families. Provides spiritual consultation and education to patients, families and interdisciplinary team members.

Requirements

  • Master's of Divinity degree or equivalent subject matter accredited from a US Department of Education Approved Organization: Required
  • Completed two units of Clinical Pastoral Education program recognized by ACPE or CPSP, and on track to complete four units by end of first year or employment: Required

Nice To Haves

  • Three years' related experience: Preferred
  • Direct pastoral ministry experience.
  • Experience ministering in an acute healthcare setting.: Preferred
  • Ecclesiastical endorsement from Seventh-day Adventist Church (ACM).
  • Board certified through APC, ACI or CPSP or in process of completion within two years of hire.
  • Ministerial credentials and/or licensing.: Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides pastoral care services to patients in various situations, like those undergoing surgical procedures, facing end of life issues or involved in traumatic accidents.
  • Provides comfort and support to patient families and friends.
  • Provides calming support to angry or distraught family members and friends.
  • Provides spiritual visitations, public worship services and outreach services.
  • Assesses and responds to the spiritual, emotional and cultural needs of those counseled, including crisis interventions, ethical concerns and bereavement.
  • Responds to urgent situations, including medical emergencies (Code Blue) and deaths, at the request of administrative coordinators, nurses and family.
  • Maintains medical and personal patient information confidential.
  • Works with individuals from diverse economic, cultural, racial and religious backgrounds.
  • Works with hospital staff to enhance sensitivity about spiritual concerns for patients and families experiencing terminal illness and loss.
  • Conducts religious services in the hospital chapel.
  • Accountable to the organizational mission, core vision and values.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
