Staff Auditor (3-4 years experience)
About The Position
This is a great opportunity for someone currently in a Big 4 or mid-tier public accounting firm who wants more visibility, a better work-life balance post-busy season, and room to grow in a specialized financial services firm. My client is a fast-growing financial services advisory firm specializing in niche verticals such as mortgage banking, private debt funds, depositories, and credit unions. The firm places a high value on client relationships, integrity, and developing strong internal talent. With ~90 employees across three offices, they offer the stability of a well-established firm and the agility of a closely held team.
Requirements
- At least 3 busy seasons of public accounting audit experience
- Strong understanding of audit methodology
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Willingness to work on-site in Melville, NY or Iselin, NJ 3–4 days/week
- Ambition to pursue a CPA license (if not already licensed)
Nice To Haves
- Experience with financial services clients (mortgage banking, private debt funds, etc.)
- ICFR (Internal Controls over Financial Reporting) experience — this is a big plus
- CPA license or parts passed for senior-level
Responsibilities
- Assist in audits of financial institutions and related entities
- Perform substantive audit testing and document findings
- Collaborate with seniors and managers to execute audit plans
- Engage with clients as needed, particularly during busy season
