About The Position

We are seeking a Staff Attorney to provide a broad array of hands-on legal advice in the areas of U.S. Government contract law and related subcontract and commercial contract law. Responsibilities will include identifying risks and providing subsequent mitigation strategies, supporting complex transactions and providing expertise in the areas of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Part 12 and 15 requirements as a prime or major subcontractor. A major component of the work will be procurement-focused including negotiations with suppliers. The Staff Attorney will work directly with her/his business counterparts, other attorneys, other legal staff, and the Bell General Counsel.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of related experience with government contracting.
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school is required.
  • Must be a member of a state Bar in good standing.
  • Eligibility to obtain at least a Secret security clearance is required.
  • Must be a good strategic thinker with business acumen to work cooperatively with other attorneys and employees.
  • The ability to effectively manage multiple assignments simultaneously with a minimum amount of supervision while being a team player with an open, mature and positive personality who is willing to share and communicate information effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with FAR, DFARS, and other government laws and regulations and with analysis, drafting and negotiation of contracts and contract claims preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with business counterparts, identify legal risks and issues raised in contractual pursuits and on-going programs and develop risk mitigation strategies, as appropriate.
  • Provide legal advice on terms and conditions for Part 12 and Part 15 government prime contracts and sub-contracts, teaming agreements, joint ventures and other business arrangements for both domestic and international business.
  • Collaborate with business/procurement counterparts to form negotiation plans, provide reviews and legal perspectives on supplier feedback, negotiate terms and conditions, and review final contract language.
  • Support complex legal transactions for Bell’s programs and businesses in the U.S. and abroad to include direct commercial sales and FMS.
  • Support efforts in response to audits and subpoenas, litigation and ethics investigations.
  • Support other matters as assigned to fulfill the needs of the department.
  • Travel globally and domestically on a limited basis.
