About The Position

Safe Passage Project (SPP) is a nonprofit immigration legal services organization dedicated to providing free legal representation to immigrant children facing deportation. Founded in 2013, SPP has grown significantly, managing over 1,600 cases annually with a team of over 60 employees and a budget exceeding $10 million. The organization serves young people in New York City and Long Island, addressing the critical need for legal counsel as many immigrant children are not provided with government-funded representation. SPP attorneys directly represent children and also train, mentor, and supervise a network of pro bono attorneys. The role of Temporary Staff Attorney is crucial in directly impacting the lives of immigrant children seeking safety and security, involving representation in immigration and related proceedings such as asylum and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status cases, as well as guiding pro bono attorneys through various court and office proceedings.
