About The Position

St. Tammany Health System is seeking a Staff Attorney to support the Corporate Compliance Department, leadership team, and Board of Commissioners. This role serves as a legal resource for the System, conducting due diligence on proposed business, employment, and organizational transactions. The Staff Attorney will support the review, negotiation, and completion of contracts and agreements, manage the legal aspects of real estate and other business transactions, and oversee employment agreements with physicians, service agreements, and document management. The position requires communicating critical information to System leadership in accordance with policies and procedures. There is an opportunity for remote work, subject to manager approval.

Requirements

  • Member in good standing with the Louisiana State Bar Association.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of law.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a practicing corporate or transactional attorney.
  • Working knowledge of law as relates to general corporate and transactional legal matters, including real estate and property sales and leasing, commercial agreements, formation of legal entities and other corporate business matters.
  • Knowledge of state/federal laws relevant to transactions and Louisiana hospital service districts.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with executive leaders and attorneys on a variety of assignments.
  • Expertise in conducting legal research, providing legal opinions and in analyzing facts and precedents.
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, manage complex processes and maintain confidentiality.
  • Analytical mind able to quickly assess large amounts of information and data and the ability to consider and evaluate the relationships between numerous factors.
  • Personal credibility and an ability to articulate, communicate and negotiate positions and strategies concisely in a manner that is useful and easily understood.
  • Professionalism, self-confidence, motivation, decisiveness, flexibility and determination.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must possess good physical health.
  • Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of health care law and the business matters of health care systems.
  • JD-MBA is preferred.
  • Expertise in Louisiana law specific to hospital service districts and quasi-governmental entities is a plus.
