About The Position

The Indiana Office of Court Services (IOCS) is seeking a Legal Support Attorney to join our Legal Support and Statistics Division. This is a unique opportunity to apply your legal expertise across a broad range of topics while supporting Indiana’s judges, courts, and judicial committees. The role involves serving as a trusted legal advisor and resource for Indiana’s judiciary, responding to complex legal research requests, monitoring and analyzing case law and legislation, supporting various judicial committees, contributing to the revision of Benchbooks, and collaborating with education attorneys to develop judicial education materials.

Information Gathering: Analyze data from multiple databases to complete clear and concise reports as well as complete with recommendations.
Technology and Tool Usage: Learn and adapt to new technologies within the Microsoft Suite as well as Supreme Court systems.

Responsibilities

Responding to complex legal research requests from judicial officers and court administrators primarily related to civil law, but across a wide range of legal topics, including but not limited to family, probate, administrative, and criminal law.
Monitoring and analyzing case law and legislation that may impact Indiana’s courts.
Collaborating with a team of staff attorneys.
Supporting Judicial Conference and Supreme Court committees, Civil Benchbook, Commercial Courts, and other committees as assigned by coordinating meetings, preparing materials, and assisting with policy development.
Contributing to the revision of Benchbooks, drafting legal content, and ensuring timely updates.
Collaborating with IOCS education attorneys to develop and review judicial education materials and presentations.
