About The Position

The Staff Attorney position plays a significant role in supporting the operations in Privacy & Data within the Legal Department. The role supports the group by serving as the front-line Legal reviewer and negotiator for contract escalations in the privacy and data space, including negotiations involving privacy and artificial intelligence language in our MSA and in our respective contract exhibits. The Attorney also serves as the documentation manager for various group deliverables, including the team’s SharePoint site and the guidance and informational documents made available on that site. The role is office centric and requires being in the office 5 days a week. This is NOT a remote opportunity.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school and licensed to practice law in good standing
  • Minimum 3+ years of post-bar experience in a law firm, government, and/or corporate settings
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize matters, utilize time management skills, and move between matters fluidly
  • Ability to handle a heavy workload, manage stress effectively and meet critical deadlines
  • Team-oriented mentality and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a first line contract reviewer and negotiator
  • Experience in a corporate legal department having successfully held positions of advancing responsibility
  • Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in the entrepreneurial environment of a large, complex corporation
  • Experience working in Compliance, Legal, or Risk Departments in a large financial services company.

Responsibilities

  • Use critical thinking and creativity to support, develop, and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of new or existing initiatives, build processes, and provide project management support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to collect, document, and confirm requirements; prioritize technical initiatives based on departmental needs; and facilitate and participate in testing, launch efforts, and issue resolution.
  • Effectively and efficiently negotiate contracts on behalf of the team and work with internal and external lawyers as needed/directed.
  • Work cross-functionally with various teams to support operational objectives.
  • Support, and may lead, ad-hoc projects related to Privacy & Data Legal.
