About The Position

USCRI seeks a Staff Attorney to serve in the Albany, NY field office. The attorney will assist with part of the Office for New Americans Opportunity center and other programs as designated by the Associate Director of Humanitarian Legal Services.

Requirements

J.D. from an accredited law school
Active membership in good standing with a state bar association
Minimum 2-3 years of immigration legal experience and/or program management
Excellent legal research, writing, and editing skills
Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills

Responsibilities

Overall oversight, financial management, staff training, and support for the Office for New Americans Opportunity Center.
Report preparation and submission for the Office for New Americans Opportunity Center.
Review and preparation of immigration applications for the Office for New Americans Opportunity Center.
Preparation, presentation, and community engagement of immigration community workshops for the Office for New Americans Opportunity Center.
Collect, review, and analyze legal data reports on a monthly basis.
Respond and make referrals for legal inquiries received through USCRI Headquarter channels.
Create and/or update Humanitarian Legal Services standard operating procedures as necessary.
Assist with legal funding development including collaboration on funding proposals.
Provide direct legal representation as needed to support staff transitions and new programming.
Representation may include but is not limited to: Immigration Court Representation (Master Calendar Hearings, Individual Hearings, Motions, Voluntary Departure), Attendance at USCIS interviews, Application support including but not limited to: SIJS, Asylum, T visas, U visas, VAWA, Adjustment of Status, Family-Based immigration, Consular Processing, TPS, EADs.
