About The Position

Housing Works seeks a Staff Attorney to conduct poverty law and impact litigation. Housing Works seeks an attorney with at least one year of housing court experience to provide services to indigent people living with HIV/AIDS and other vulnerable individuals chiefly in the area of housing law, along with benefits, name changes, and other individual client services, and to assist with our award-winning impact litigation.

Requirements

  • A strong commitment to social justice and human/civil rights
  • Initiative and strong research, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Significant experience with housing law
  • Bar membership required.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish proficiency preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Intake, advice, and representation in all facets of housing law, along with some benefits, consumer, and name change matters
  • Assistance in all phases of impact litigation on issues such as housing, disability, and gender discrimination, public assistance, and homelessness.
