Canal Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking the generational cycle of poverty for Latino immigrants and their families by removing barriers to their success. The organization educates, empowers, supports, and partners with motivated immigrants to address their unique needs, including essential services, citizenship, English language learning, and college graduation. Canal Alliance fosters a trauma-informed, collaborative, and inclusive culture, investing in high-quality services, professional development, and work-life balance. The Staff Attorney will be responsible for developing and implementing an Immigration Legal Services (ILS) Pro Bono Program, providing specialized legal services, and undertaking other special projects as assigned by the Senior Supervising Attorney. This role requires comfort in cultivating relationships with community members, students, attorneys, and corporations. Depending on organizational needs and experience, the Staff Attorney may also maintain a caseload representing clients before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). The position operates within a collaborative and trauma-informed environment, emphasizing high-quality service delivery. It is a full-time, exempt position with a hybrid work model, requiring three days per week in the office. Availability for hearings and interviews in San Francisco is necessary. The Staff Attorney reports to the Senior Supervising Attorney of the Affirmative Unit.
