About The Position

The Tri-County NJ Staff Associate role is an entry-level position within Young Life designed to train and equip individuals to effectively carry out and manage Young Life ministry. This role involves learning through formal training and direct field experience, focusing on spiritual development, leadership development, resource development, direct ministry, and ministry support. A key aspect of the role is adhering to Young Life's Statement of Faith and its implications for conduct and ministry functions, as Young Life is a Christian organization with exclusive purposes of evangelism and discipleship.

Requirements

  • Experience in direct ministry.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.
  • Must subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith.
  • Must be ready, willing, and able to fulfill ministry functions.
  • Must refrain from conduct and statements that detract from the biblical standards taught and supported by Young Life.
  • Must abide by all policies and practices of Young Life.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan focusing on prayer, spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth, health, and church relationships.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within a church community and the Young Life community.
  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
  • Meet regularly with volunteer leaders and area leadership.
  • Recruit and train new leaders to build a reflective leadership team.
  • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping to other leaders.
  • Assist in training leaders, team leaders, and committee members on teamwork and developing yearly ministry strategies.
  • Raise financial support and maintain good donor care practices.
  • Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners.
  • Network and develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community.
  • Plan and execute area fundraising events.
  • Engage in all three levels of contact work.
  • Lead a team to plan and conduct Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry.
  • Lead a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy.
  • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year.
  • Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures, maintaining professionalism.
  • Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency.
  • Maintain accurate information on kids, leaders, and donors.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication.
  • Set yearly strategic ministry plans and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
