About The Position

The Staff Associate II role at Young Life is designed for individuals to learn and effectively manage Young Life ministry through formal training and direct field experience, while also holding area responsibilities. This position requires a commitment to Young Life's Christian mission, including evangelism and discipleship. The role involves spiritual development, leadership development, resource development, direct ministry execution, and administrative support, all within a framework of adherence to Young Life's Statement of Faith and policies.

Requirements

  • Experience in direct ministry.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.
  • Must subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith.
  • Must be ready, willing, and able to fulfill ministry functions.
  • Must refrain from conduct and statements that detract from the biblical standards taught and supported by Young Life.
  • Must abide by all policies and practices of Young Life.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan focusing on spiritual disciplines, prayer, fellowship, and church relationships.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within a church community and the Young Life community.
  • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
  • Meet regularly with volunteer leaders and area leadership.
  • Recruit and train new leaders to build a diverse leadership team.
  • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping to other leaders.
  • Assist in training leaders, team leaders, and committee members on effective teamwork and yearly ministry strategy.
  • Raise financial support and maintain good donor care practices.
  • Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners.
  • Network and develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community.
  • Plan and execute area fundraising events under the direction of an area supervisor and committee.
  • Attend committee and adult functions as necessary.
  • Actively engage in all three levels of contact work.
  • Lead a team to plan and conduct a Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry.
  • Lead a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy.
  • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year.
  • Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures, maintaining professionalism.
  • Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency.
  • Maintain accurate information on kids, leaders, and donors.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication.
  • Set yearly strategic ministry plans and initiatives, reviewing them regularly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Complete Core Training (Phase One, Leadership I, Leadership II, Apologetics, and one Winter Training course) within the first two years.
  • Participate in regional training meetings and ministry skills training.
  • Build, train, and lead a volunteer team for a ministry.
  • Fundraise $40-50k of personal support and assist with fundraising events.
  • Help run a student leadership program.
  • Attend monthly training.
