About The Position

The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their finance team. This role will be responsible for various accounting functions for CAPA and will perform similar duties for nonprofit organizations managed by CAPA. The position plays an important role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting the arts organizations that enrich Central Ohio's cultural community.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related coursework is required.
Ability to work independently with little supervision and be committed to completing tasks on a timely basis.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Knowledge of accounting concepts and proficiency in standard office computer software.

Nice To Haves

2-3 years’ accounting experience in an office environment is preferred.
Experience in a non-profit accounting role is a plus.

Responsibilities

Complete monthly bank reconciliations, monitor daily cash activity, and oversee accounts payable processing.
Prepare journal entries and maintain schedules for general ledger accounts.
Assist with monthly financial statements.
Prepare audit schedules and assist with non-profit tax filings and grant reporting, periodically.
Support the annual budget process and contribute to special projects and process improvements, as needed.
Meet with supervisor, department leaders, shared service management, and others to understand interactions with the accounting department and this role, specifically.
Collaborate with finance team to improve, document, and share best practices within the department.
