About The Position

The Staff Accountant provides support to the Senior Accountant and Assistant Corporate Controller. The staff Accountant is highly organized and efficient in performing General Ledger entries, account reconciliation, coding and verifying accounts, and maintaining information that is vital to our ongoing operations and success. It is imperative that the Staff Accountant maintain a mindset of continual improvement and work diligently to foster a culture of continual improvement within the team, department, and company.

Requirements

  • Minimum two-years’ experience in these or related functions.
  • Able to manipulate and be proficient with PCs and Windows applications; Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc., use CRT/screens, keyboards, mouse/pointing devices, etc., associated with contemporary computers.
  • Must be able to pass a drug, background screen, and motor vehicle record check (if one is required per the position).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance or accounting and have exceptional direct experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs General Ledger functions including account reconciliation and journal entries.
  • Performs all accounting functions to include cash disbursements, adjusting entries, recurring entries, and reconciling all accounts at month end.
  • Provides accurate lot sales prices to Title Companies.
  • Reconciles all loans for all entities.
  • Codes/verifies all loan statements for payment.
  • Maintains construction loan schedules for all entities.
  • Analyzes property tax bills and submits to taxing entity.
  • Reconciles bank accounts, verifying deposits, and addressing inquiries from banks.
  • Assists controller with accounting research and provide accurate information for journal entries.
  • Works independently and collaborates, when necessary, to meet all deadlines and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ensures all work is completed with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates professionalism while maintaining an insightful and enthusiastic team-focused environment.
  • Assists in the recording of construction loans (new home starts), home closings (sales to customers), and lot/land purchases.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Maintains open and positive communication channels to help the flow of information from department to department.
  • Participates in training when needed. This includes learning industry knowledge, procedural proficiencies, and computer software.
  • Adheres to departmental operating guidelines and View Homes’ Employee Manual.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Controller.
